Welcome to the New Year, Root readers! It’s been unseasonably warm lately, and if nothing else, perhaps it’s encouraging you to open those seed catalogs and start planning for another year of beautiful flowers and home-grown vegetables. Yes, there will be challenges, but that’s what DCMGA and The Root are here for!! This month’s issue is light on articles so that our writers and editors could have a chance to be with family and friends over the holidays. But we DO have our first Garden Tour 2026 property highlight – “Sage and Serenity” – which will demonstrate for you just how beautiful a suburban backyard in the full sun can truly be, even in North Texas. We also have a great article on winter tool care and maintenance to help you get your equipment ready to roll for 2026. There are highlights from our 2025 year, and you can check out Upcoming Events for a few 2026 “Save the Date” announcements. Don’t forget that DCMGA is presenting another Earth Kind® Design class in January – this is open to the public, and if you need some landscape inspiration for this year, this is a great class to get you started.
