Come join the fun! The Shady Spot is Judy Schneider’s lifelong passion for gardening, flowers, and animals. It is located in Whitesboro, TX, approximately an hour from the Denton Court House.

In the past, it was a commercial iris garden featuring over 3,800 varieties. The commercial aspect has been sold, and she is now transitioning to mostly native and adapted plants to be more environmentally friendly. The iris collection still contains over 1,200 named varieties of bearded classes plus Louisiana’s, Japanese, Spurias, Siberians, and an assortment of species and Species-Xs. The irises are interspersed in beds planted with shrubs, perennials, and annuals that are drought tolerant and Texas tough.

Car Pooling is Required
Parking is an issue so we’ll break the tour into three shifts – 10 am, 11:30 am, and 1 pm – with a limit of ten cars at each time slot. Please sign up for no more than 1 slot either as a driver or rider. If you need to cancel please return to the SUG and remove yourself. Make sure to communicate changes between rider and driver. The location will be mailed to the drivers a few days prior to the event.

Deadline for signup is Monday, April 22 at 12 noon.
