DESCRIPTION:We are off to a good start with the Roots for Wings Demonstration Garden. \nIn 2024 we will have a workday the first Monday. \nWe will have an AT/CE component during the workdays. If inclement weather\, not dangerous weather\, we will meet in the LAS building and have AT/CE for the duration. We will begin with working in the gardens and then move to the LAS classroom for the AT/CEU. \nPlease provide your cell number so we can get the word out if there is any major change in plans…it is faster than email. \nBring regular garden tools\, gloves\, kneeler\, water\, bug spray. \nPark along the road or in the parking lot across from LAS.

DESCRIPTION:~Learn about trees!\n~Volunteer to improve our urban forest! \nApplication deadline – December 31\, 2025.\nThe Citizen Forester program is sponsored by the Cross Timbers Urban Forestry Council\, a non-profit organization\, focused on publicly owned trees. Trained volunteers work in public areas including city parks\, street trees\, public school yards\, etc. We provide public education through presentations and booth events. Our goal is to help communities reap the benefits of trees in the urban environment in a responsible manner.\nThe program consists of training every other Tuesday from February 10th through May 5th\, consisting of in-house instruction and outdoor field exercises. \nIn-classroom training will be held at the Herring Recreation Center\, Multi-\nPurpose Room\, 191 Civic Cir\, Lewisville.
