Denton County Master Gardener Association Board Meeting
September 7, 2005
 
 
President Carolyn Tinner called the DCMGA Board of directors Meeting to order at 9:05 AM. Those in attendance were Karen Archambault, Annie Brackin, John Cooper, Sandy Hiatte, Maurine LeBeau, Pam McClimon, Susan Musgrave, Karen Smith, Carolyn Tinner, Donna Wolfe, and Mary Morrow.
 
The minutes were submitted to the Board via email by Mary Morrow, Secretary. Corrections to the minutes are as follows: Photo Ops and Parting Shots; Darla Bostick volunteered "to" be in charge, etc.
 
Carolyn submitted to Treasurer's Report for Linda Williams, Treasurer; the ending balance is $13, 424.34.
Carolyn showed everyone the brochure for the Round Up created by Julie Levine.  They will be handed out at LHOF and the Plant Sale.
 
Karen Smith gave information regarding grant monies available from a gas leasing company.  Discussion was held and it was decided if we have a need in the future we will pursue.
 
Carolyn gave all present a copy of the Speaker's Bureau Report.  It was decided to include the report on the web site.
 
Karen Archambault, Second Vice President, gave an update on Plants, Birds, and Elephants. Carolyn voiced a concern for safety for those parking outside of LISDOLA.  Karen will be contacting the Lewisville Police Department for assistance.
 
Carolyn advised they were finishing up the Power Point for Photo Ops and Parting shots, which will be the next General Meeting.
 
Susan Musgrave, Historian, gave an update on the Tree Distribution Program for LISD. She is working on a final count of the number of trees to be distributed, and is working with Steve Spurger.
 
Carolyn advised there are still openings for the afternoon Advanced Training Propagation Class.  If anyone is interested, please sign up with Jim Appleby.  The cost is $10.00.
 
Carolyn advised the Garden Tour Selection Committee was meeting on September 15.  Gardens will be finalized in the next month.  Carolyn reviewed the costs associated with the MG training class.  Annie Brackin made a motion to Charge $125 per trainee, discussion followed, and Karen Archambault seconded the motion.  All present approved.
 
Karen Archambault volunteered to locate a speaker for the 2006 Annual Dinner and 2005 Graduation.  It will be help on Tuesday, January 10; the location is still being determined.
 
Sandy Hiatte, First Vice President, is coordination the Round Up, to be held on October 19, at the Extension office from 10:00 AM to noon
 
Carolyn advised she and Peggy Durrett attended the MG State meeting and presented the Brazos County MG with the $1,000 sponsorship for the next state conference.  She said she received many accolades about the 2005 Conference. 
 
Pam McClimon, Roto-Teller Editor,  advised Keep Denton Beautiful has funds available for projects in Denton; it was decided to refer her to Carol Fitch, Project Manager for the North Denton Library.  All requests from KDB for involvement of DCMGA should be referred to John.
 
Carolyn is meeting Friday, September 16, at the Extension office with the Nominating Committee, consisting of Sandy Hiatte and Janie Farler.
 
The meeting was adjourned at 11:03 AM.
