The October 12 General Meeting will be a training session to address
several changes within the organization. We will also have our annual
Plant Swap...bring something unusual from your garden to share with
fellow members. Don't forget it is an evening meeting starting with a
6:00 PM social hour. Bring some plants to share, have some yummy
refreshments, learn some new procedures.
The Nominating Committee met on September 16 to discuss vacant
positions on the Board and vacant key committee positions. A slate of
nominees will be presented at the November 9 General Meeting. Plan to
attend this important meeting so you can cast your vote for next
year's Board. Positions are still open for Second Vice President
(head of Ways and Means and leads fund raising efforts), Newsletter
Editor (collects DCMGA news and works closely with the Web Master in
getting newsletter on Web site), Computer Committee Chairman (newly
created position, will be purchasing computer and getting DCMGA more
electronically savvy), Hospitality Committee Chairman (organizes
refreshments at general meetings and special events), and Plant Sale
Committee Chairman (organizes the collection of donated plants and
distribution of plants for sale at Garden Tour).
Our December 14 General Meeting will be our annual Christmas Party.
Scotty Kolb has graciously agreed to host this year's event at her
home.
Sandy Hiatte, First Vice President
Reminder:
2006 Master Gardener Trainee Class Roundup, Oct. 19

For
the first time, DCMGA will be helping the Lewisville
Independent School District distribute tree seedlings to
third grade elementary students in that district. Six
different varieties of tree seedlings are being provided by
the Denton Soil and Water Conservation District.
Susan Musgrave,
project manager, has organized the DCMGA volunteers into
seven teams, who will receive, bag, and deliver these trees
to the participating schools during the third week of
October. She still has a need for more volunteers,
especially for an additional three "team captains."
If you are
interested in helping on this outreach to LIDS children and
their communities, please contact Susan at (972-0816-3712
or
