The first TREE meeting was attended by almost 70 educators and
interested community members. John Cooper and Brigid Corbett represented
DCMGA. There was also representation form NPSOT, Master Naturalists, the
Wild Bird Center, KDB, LISDOLA, BRIT, REAL (the Rainwater Environmental
Alliance for Learning), and Elm Fork (UNT). There was staff from Denton
elementary schools, two Denton high schools, one Denton middle school,
the district operations staff, two members of the school board, and some
representatives of an Argyle campus. There are plans for one more
meeting in the spring, but an exact date and location have not been set.
This next meeting will have a shorter formal presentation and more time
for networking, with networking stations set up to identify who is in
attendance. TREE offers a great opportunity to meet and learn from
others interested in outdoor learning environments.

The garden tour selection committee has been hard at work touring DCMGA
gardens and the final selections have been made. Those gardens, along with
other information on tour details, will be announced in the December
Roto-Teller.
But its never too early to start planning publicity for our biggest
annual fundraiser. If you belong to an area garden club, civic club,
homeowner's association, or similar group, please provide any contact
information to Pam McClimon, Publicity Committee Chairman.

Thanks to the following DCMGs for making presentations on behalf of our
association:
Deanna Miles, Canyon Oaks Garden Club; Diane Land, Hood County Master
Gardener Conference; Mary Ellen Richards, Denton County Newcomers Club.
The Speakers Bureau is very fortunate to have many capable and willing
members who represent us throughout Denton County, and other areas of
Texas, as well. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of them
for their ongoing cooperation. As always, I am eager to welcome any other
Maser Gardeners who are interested in the Speakers Bureau. Please to
contact me with any question or suggestions you might have.

Fall has been a season for general cleanup and maintenance
at the Highland Village Elementary Outdoor Classroom. The area fifth grade
Girl Scout troop applied weather protector to both arbors, trimmed trees,
planted flowers, put up two scarecrows and started building birdhouses.
The first graders have plans to sow wildflowers very soon.
