ASPCA Warning on Disulfoton
How does your garden grow? Do you treat your roses and other flowering
plants with systemic insecticides that are absorbed through the roots?
While effective at eliminating aphids and other insects, certain types may
be very dangerous to pets.
According to Donna Wolfe, DCMGA volunteer coordinator and active member of
a local animal rescue, a bulletin from the Animal Poison Control Center of
the ASPCA reports that disolfuton is a very potent systemic
organophosphate insecticide that also acts on the neurological systems of
dogs, cats ad other pets. Pets ingesting this insecticide may suffer from
a variety of serious symptoms and may even die.
The APCC reminds us to carefully follow label instructions for use and to
only use and store away from pet's reach.
