It didn't feel like fall when
the State Fair of Texas rolled into town, but on September 23,
we put our "hands" together and made the Start Barn look as
inviting to the little ones as ever.
Many thanks to Paula
Blackshear, Diane Block, Susan Musgrave, Judy Riley, Debbie Hipp, Maxine
Moore, Joe Moore, Clarice Luce, and Linda Krimm for their hands in
putting it all together.
Then, on October 11 and
October 15, we put both hands, feet, and big smiles together and helped
the little ones make their way though The Farm, gathering
peaches and eggs, milking the cows, feeding the cattle and sheep,
planting and picking vegetables, and meeting the farmer with their
goodies.
Thanks to Paula Blackshear,
Tina Litherland, Brenda Wellenreiter, Debbie Hipp, Ann Looney, Clarice
and Lori Luce, Linda Krimm, Andi Hawk, Judy Brough, Judy Riley, Susan
Musgrave, Curtis and Carolyn Gold, Sue Chellew, Janie Farler,
Judy Guthrie, Rodney, Debbie, Luke, Noah, and Caleb Sowalskie, Tracy,
Greg, Kaylin and Sidney Durmick, and Bob Morrow for putting smiles on
the children's' faces.
On October 24, when it was
time for the Fair to roll out of town, Maxine and Joe Moore,
Kristin Anthony, Judy Riley, and myself made the last trip down to the Fair
and put it all away.
Thanks to those who drove and
donated "barnyard art"-every little bit helps.
Mary
Morrow, Project
Manager
Thanks to Susan Randolph for
her recent presentation at the Corinth Parks and Recreation Center.
Activities for the Speakers Bureau have slowed down this month, but we
have already scheduled presentations for 2006! If you know of a group,
school, or club that would like to have us speak to them, please ask
them to contact Donna Wolfe at the Extension Office. She will then
forward the request to me. We do ask for at least a month's advance
notice or more, if possible.
I want to thank all of our
Speakers Bureau members for their participation this year. Happy
Holidays to everyone!
Annell
Burns, Speakers Bureau
Coordinator
I'm looking for a "few good mentors"...actually, more than just a
few! With 29 applicants for the DCMGA Class of 2006, we already know
that we will need 29 volunteers from the "old pros" to help these
new interns. It's a great opportunity to make a new friend and get to
know the other class members. Contact me before I contact you!
Maurine LeBeau, Mentor Coordinator
With the Annual Luncheon and Graduation coming up soon (and the holidays
in between), Susan Musgrave, DCMGA Historian, needs to receive any
pictures from project managers and other members for the CD/Slide show
to be presented during that event. All pictures for inclusion the DCMGA
Scrapbook should also be turned into the Extension Office.
Just imagine Susan's children, sitting in their living room on Christmas
morning, with no tree, no gifts, no home baked goodies, all because
Santa was too busy trying to round up elusive DCMGA pictures.
So help a busy mom, end your year with a clear conscience, and enjoy
pictures of your special project during the slide show. You'll be happy
you did and Susan's family will be thrilled!
