November 8, 2004 Meeting

President Annie Brackin called the meeting to order at noon.   Attending were Karen Archambault, Annie Brackin, Suzie Cook, Peggy Durrett, Carol Fitch, Sandy Hiatte, Linda Krimm, Maurine LeBeau, Carolyn Tinner, Linda Williams, Donna Wolfe and Mary Morrow.  Mary Morrow, Secretary, submitted the October board meeting minutes as published in the Roto-Teller. Linda Williams moved to approve; Sandy Hiatte seconded; all present approved. 

Linda Krimm, Treasurer, submitted the treasurer*s report.  The balance is $11,729.43.  Mary Morrow moved approval; Carolyn Tinner seconded, and all present approved. 

Sandy Hiatte, 2nd Vice President, advised we have bulbs for sale and will be selling them at the next general meeting along with 2005 Conference raffle tickets and other MG items. 

Carol Fitch, Program Coordinator, advised the next meeting is a night meeting.  Darla Bostick will present a slide program on Gardens around the World, highlighting Butchart Gardens.  The Christmas Luncheon will be at 10am on Dec. 8th at Carol*s home.  We will exchange gifts (limit $10), and everyone should bring a covered dish.

Donna Wolfe, Volunteer Coordinator, advised there are 21 applications for the 2005 MG class.  Carolyn Tinner, Sandy Hiatte, Annie Brackin and Linda Williams will interview candidates over the next month. More than half of the applications came from Round-Up guests.  Suzie Cook, Editor, advised that the deadline for all articles and project information will be 11/15.

Peggy Durrett, 2005 Conference Coordinator, advised the registration fee for the conference is $100. The next conference committee meeting will be Wednesday, November 17th at 9:30 am at the Extension Office.  Carolyn Tinner, 1st Vice President, distributed the summary of the 2004 retreat and will also be handing it out at the next general meeting.  Linda Krimm advised Monique Goodhart has already planned an MG information booth at the Lewisville Library.  Details will follow.  Suzie Cook suggested a new format for next year*s meeting.  Thirty seven members attended the retreat. 

Donna clarified the difference between service hours, advanced training hours and FYI when she sends out information regarding opportunities for MGs.  Advanced training  hours will be decided in advance for consistency in reporting hours.  In addition, any MG who is a member of a city committee will not be able to claim town service as MG service in 2005.

Annie advised that the tentative date for the Annual Dinner and Graduation is Jan. 12th at the Doral, depending on the availability of the guest speaker.  The event will begin at 6:30 pm, followed by dinner at 7 pm.  We plan on having about 80 MGs and guests attending.  Linda Krimm and Carolyn Tinner will handle the centerpieces.  Annie read over the nominations for the 2005 Officers, which will be voted on at the next general meeting.  Annie advised that John Cooper has decided that a Parliamentarian be selected to assure we are following Robert*s Rules of Order as stated in the by-laws.  Maurine LeBeau volunteered.  Donna suggested a brief training session be given at the next Board Meeting and at February*s General Meeting.  Mary Morrow moved to approve and Carol Fitch seconded; all present approved.

Donna advised that a Master Compost Class is being offered by Flower Mound.  It will be a 3-day class, for which advanced training hours have been approved.  There will be a service commitment to the town.  Details will follow.  Meeting adjourned at 1 pm.
